![]() ![]() I decided not to book immediately and said I would call back if we were interested and there was no pressure from her to reserve anything. I called to make the reservations and Leigh was super nice and courteous. We chose this place because of the great reviews and it surpassed our expectations! I highly recommend this B&B to anyone looking to stay in the Bar Harbor area (near Acadia Nat’l Park). I highly recommend it to travelers looking to take a break from the stresses of daily life. While other B&Bs have felt like inns, this place felt like a second home. While walking around the town one evening, I texted Leigh for information on restaurants, and she answered me right away with numerous choices! If you stay at this Bed and Breakfast, you will not only be surrounded by lovely decor, but an aura of true care and warmth. Each day there were cookies and pastries that were freshly-baked and warm, and pots of hot tea and coffee throughout the morning and night. ![]() He invited me into his kitchen and demonstrated his refined practice as though I were a long-time neighbor, indulging in all my questions with light-hearted friendliness. In short, it is apparent that they love what they do and are invested in not only giving their guests an enjoyable stay, but an experience that fulfills their every need–from restaurant recommendations to nearby excursions to tips on how to make a delicious hollandaise sauce! Ever curious to learn about the places where I stay and the people I meet, I asked Matt his experiences as a chef, and about the secrets to making this challenging breakfast dish. You can tell that they work very hard to ensure that their guests are well taken care of and satisfied. Leigh and Matt were not just welcoming, but made you feel like old friends from the first meeting. “A cozy stay with personable and attentive innkeepers…” Somehow, in a short two-day visit, the Maples Inn became our new home. When we return to Bar Harbor, we will not consider staying anywhere else. Wonderful aromas of baking throughout the day, Eggs Benedict with Lobster if you want, trading easy stories with warm humor, smiling faces and respectful interactions with their guests all made us feel like we may have left with two new friends. Their skills each perfectly complement one other. From the charming suite with working fireplace in their 1902 house, to the huge fluffy beds with crisp linens, personalized menus with choices of well-executed entrees, the targeted recommendations on where to go & what to do, the waiting port in crystal glasses with homemade cookies at night, this husband and wife team have it going on. ![]() Innkeepers Leigh & Matt have hospitality in their veins and their collective experiences run deep, well beyond their years. At Maples Inn my fears were allayed – our stay there far exceeded all expectations. I approach B&B’s with much trepidation not sure of the physical space, the degree of privacy and most importantly, the owners’ personalities. ![]()
